Admission Process

In Government Medical College and Private Medical College
→ Students should be of 17 years or above on 31st December of the admission to the MBBS course and he should fulfill all the other criteria which are required to be eligible for MBBS course in Bangladesh.

→ If a student is eligible he has to clear the exam held by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)of Bangladesh.Medical Students from India have to clear NEET to get No Objection Cer- tificate (NOC) to study abroad. There is no entrance test taken by universities or colleges in Bangladesh for medical students.

→ After clearing the required exams of DGHS and/or NEET the students has to fill the application form for admission which also be downloaded from the websiteof Bangladesh Foreign Ministry (www.mofa.gov.bd) and fill it up. The students have also to mention the college of their choice.

→ 6 passport size photographs also required for students to submit to the Ministry of Foreign Af- fairs, Dhaka.

→ Foreign students have to submit the copy of passport of their respective country, certificates and mark sheets to College offices through email or post in which colleges they want admission for advance booking of their seat.

→ All certificates provided by the students have to be duly attested by the competent authority (Education Ministry) of the country of applicant and these certificatesmust also be authenticat- ed by Bangladesh Missions abroad or by Foreign Missions in Dhaka.

→ Filled admission form, bank receipt and attested documents needed to be deposited by foreign students to Bangladesh Embassy intheir country for the processof Grade Equivalency and per- mission from Government of Bangladesh.

→ After receiving permission letter of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and grade equivalency of appli- cant's certificate the colleges will inform the applicants and will proceed with admission.

→ All academic certificates and mark-sheets/transcripts in original will be required to produce by successful applicants in original during their admission.

→A non-refundable T.T of US $ 60 has to be attached by the applicants payable to: "The Director, Medical Education and HMPD, DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh".

→ Application form of those applicants will only be considered for admissionwhich are transmit- ted through Bangladesh Missions abroad or through the Missions in Dhaka of respective country will only be considered for admission.

→ The students from SAARC countries have to pay tuition and other fees at the rate Bangladeshi students pay for admission in Government Medical Colleges. Per academic year students from other countriesin addition to the tuition fees charged to a Bangladeshi studentwill have to pay $5000 (five thousand).

→ In Private Colleges the tuition fee is decided by the respective colleges.

TOP UNIVERSITIES IN BANGLADESH

1. University of Dhaka(DU)


It was established in 1921 and it is one of the oldest and also largest publicuniversities of modern Bangladesh and it had played significant part in making of today's Bangladesh. It has 13 faculties, 71 departments, 10 institutes, 17 dormitories, 3 hostels and also more than 38 research centers. Library of the University has three different buildings and it is the biggest in Bangladesh comprising of 617,000 volumes. Notable alumni include Muhammad Yunus, only Noble Prize winner from Bangladesh, FazlurRahman Khan as well as presidents, prime ministers, artists, journalists and businessmen of Bangladesh.

It is the first private university in Bangladesh established on May 13, 1989 with sponsorship of a private charity. The university has different hall for female and male students and a separate hostel for internees. It has seven-storied library building which has three sections and provides modern technology with 150 readers at a timecan accommodate.

Milestones:
→ When the university established 1989, there were only two professors and nine lecturers. Now there are 285full-time teachers.
→ The university has 4,200 students. Which include over 30% foreign students who are from India, Nepal, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Jordan, Palestine, USA, among others.

3.University of Rajshahi (RU)


It is a Public University established in 1953. It is the second largest university in Bangladesh. There are 52 departments in the university distinguished into 9 faculties. The university is in 3 km2 campus in Motihar with comprising of around 25,000 students and approx. 1000 academic staff. The funding comes from government as it is a public institution.

→ Rajshahi University Act was passed in 1973 to run the university accordingly; it helped the university to get more autonomy than most other peer institutes.

4.University of Chittagong (CU)

5.Shah Jala University of Science & Technology, Sylhet (SUST)


The University was established in 1987.There was improvement seen in the quality of education after semester system was introduced by the university in 1996-97, which was visible even in the national arena. Every student of the university has to take two language courses, i.e. Bangla and English. Students also have to take two computer courses, one for computer literacy and the other to learn a computer language.

Milestones:
→ Physics, Chemistry and Economics, were the only three departments in the university in 1991 at the time of its journey and had only 13 teachers and 205 students. University has grown tonow 7 schools, 27 departments, 2 institutes and many centers. The number of teachers also increased to 487 and the students to 9262.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Documents required for MBBS students in Bangladesh After completing school we all run to achieve our dream and while achieving our dream we take further steps to join those colleges and universities which provide the stream and professional study we want to be a part of. Same when students after school want to become a doctor the first preference for them is to get the MBBS cer- tificate or degree. But many times students chose a course or career either on parent's pressure or join a course seeing their friend's preference. Mostly students at the time of admission are not fully aware or get confused about the documentsthey need to have for admission. Different courses and different universities required dif- ferent documents at the time of admission. However, generally there is set pattern in Bangladesh for medical students and the medical students who are eligible for admission need to have generally these documents at the time taking admission in public and private medical college/university of Bangladesh.

Documents required by student's resident of Balangdesh
→ Original SSC/ Equivalent Certificate & Mark sheet with Photocopy.
→ Original HSC/Equivalent Certificate & Mark sheet with Photocopy.
→ Recent passport size photographs (2 copies)and on back it should be attested by registered Medical Practitioners
→ or by 1st Gazetted Officer.
→ Birth Registration Certificate with Photocopy.
→ Equivalence Certificate from D.G. Health for 'O' & 'A' Level student.
→ Eligibility Certificate fee Takka 1000/= (One thousand) only to be paid by bank draft/pay order/Cash, payable to Bangla- desh Medical and Dental Council.

Documents required by foreign students
Only students from that country can apply to study MBBS in public or private college/university of Bangladesh who holds a passport of that country who has diplomatic relation with Bangladesh. A student from foreign country who wants to study MBBS in Bangladesh and he is eligible for the admission has to provide all the documents which are required by the student who is resident of Bangladesh as well as some other documents and/or to get these document's photocopies to be attested from the foreign ministry of the student's respective countryalso be authenticated by the respective Bangla- desh Missions abroad/Foreign Missions based in Dhaka.

→ Mark/grade sheet
→ School leaving certificate (Testimonial)
→ Copy of Passport
→ Six passport size photographsof applicant.
